DIERDRE M. JAMES, Esq. is a founding partner in the law firm of Murphy & James, LLC.   She has more than twenty years of litigation experience representing businesses, not-for-profit organizations and individuals in matters involving commercial disputes, premises liability, professional liability, construction, school liability, motor vehicle and insurance matters.  Ms. James extensive experience of litigating cases in the US District Courts and all the boroughs of New York City, and the counties of Westchester, Orange, Rockland, New York and Bergen, New Jersey enables her to provide exceptional services to protect her client’s legal interest and achieve successful results.

Ms. James also represents clients by assisting them with their Estate Planning and Estate Administration needs by providing the guidance to maximize preservation of assets for themselves and their heirs. Ms. James also handles guardianship matters.

Ms. James serves as “Of Counsel” to the firm of Brown, Brown & Kane, LLP, who have specialized in the field of Estate Planning and Estate Administration for over forty years, serving the needs of the community in the surrounding area.  She was a partner in the Wall Street firm of Conway, Farrell, Curtin & Kelly, PC before the founding of Murphy & James, LLC.

Ms. James is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and in the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United District Court of New Jersey.

Ms. James was elected to the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates and is a member of the New York Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, Estate Planning Council of Rockland County, North Jersey Estate Planning Council and has served on the Planned Giving Council for the Archdiocese of Newark. Prior to commencing her legal career, Ms. James graduated from Dickinson College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and continued her education at New York Law School where she received her Juris Doctor Degree.
